PlayUp Ltd Acquires ADW Pari-mutuel Horse Racing License in North Dakota
The Australian Gaming provider has secured its license to accept bets from Americans in 20 different states
SYDNEY, May 31, 2019 – PlayUp Ltd, Australia’s sole provider of wagering and fantasy sport contests, has secured an ADW (Advance-Deposit Wagering) License in the US state of North Dakota.
The ND Racing Commission approved the application last week after the publishing of its minutes from its May 16th meeting earlier in the month, which is signed off on by the states Attorney-General. The license allows for PlayUp to accept bets on all forms of racing from Americans in no less than 20 states across the country.
The license will be issued following the release of the TRPB (Thoroughbred Racing Protective Bureau) due diligence report in June.
The issuing of such a license is seen as instrumental to PlayUp’s penetration of the US betting market, which is anticipated to undergo immense growth following the repeal of the controversial PASPA (Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act) bill by the US Supreme Court in 2018.
The decision allowed for states to adopt their own regulations for sports betting, and has since seen a huge influx of international operators coming into the US domestic market.
PlayUp Ltd CEO Daniel Simic was very optimistic about the securing of the ADW license for the company, indicating that international expansion was a high priority for PlayUp.

Following the issue of the license, PlayUp will be able to accept bets from Americans from 20 different states, as well as establish wagering offerings with race tracks from all around the country. As many as 76 thoroughbred race tracks are currently operating in the US, with a further 36 also catering to harness racing.
