Draftstars Launches Fantasy Golf
Australia’s leading Fantasy Sports platform added Fantasy Golf to its extensive suite of Fantasy offerings in time for the US Masters.
SYDNEY, May 14, 2019 – Draftstars, a subsidiary of PlayUp Limited, has announced the successful integration of Fantasy Golf to its impressive roster of challenges.
Fantasy Golf launched on the platform on April 11th in time for international golf’s premier event, the US Masters. The tournament was won in sensational style on the final day by embattled golf star Tiger Woods.
Early forecasts estimated that the inclusion of Golf markets could increase total Turnover and Net Gaming Revenue (NGR) by 4-8% p.a. Over 3000 users entered the competition, generating over $26,000 in turnover.
The inaugural prize pool of $17,000 for the Masters was over three times the size of the next largest Australian fantasy golf competition.
The arrival of golf challenges was welcomed by PlayUp Limited CEO Daniel Simic.
“Golf is a key market we’ve been looking forward to introducing to Draftstars for a number of months,” he said.
“Fantasy Golf is an expanding market in this country – the initial popularity of our first tournament is testament to that.”
“PlayUp looks forward to expanding its fantasy offerings on PlayUp and Draftstars as we continue to grow our brand and cater to new audiences.”
The addition of Golf adds to a bumper 2019 for Australia’s most popular fantasy platform, which is having one of its most successful years in its short history, particularly in AFL.
Over 60,000 entrants participated in AFL challenges over the last week in April, which say over $600,000 paid out in prizes, including $54,000 in the largest contest of 4248 entrants.
Draftstars is Australia’s leading fantasy sports platform and owned by PlayUp Limited.
